A true "front door lock"
as (far as I'm aware) is one which isn't actuated by a knob on the outside of the door.
When said person comes to the door he or she inserts the key and by turning the key
the door is unlocked. The key is then turned further which pulls the tongue in
(which is what the knob also does on the other side) to open the door.
Often, in the centre of the same door is a large fixed knob to help pull the door open.
